After only one edition, StoneFest has already proven to be an attraction for both local and international crowds, thanks in part to its diverse lineup. StoneFest derives its name from the word “Jinja” itself–meaning “stone”–making joining the week-long series of Jinja events and activities that is Jinja Adventure Week a suitable and exciting next step.
The festival, presented by The Creative Tribe, is “a 3-day event to celebrate music, art, and technology in Jinja”. Just as last year, it will be happening in a transformed urban space in the heart of Jinja Town. The first StoneFest saw close to 800 attendees, with over 20 countries represented including Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, United States, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, Jamaica, and more. This year, the organizers are expecting attendance to double with an even more diverse representation from throughout East Africa
As part of Jinja Adventure Week, StoneFest will run Thursday to Saturday, with the bulk of its activities occurring from evening to late night. The organic feel of the festival, the exceptional local talent that it presents, and the excellence in its production has left last year’s attendees counting the days till the next edition and set it on track to become a force within the East African festival community.
